Why this piano? Why now?

Any restoration project comes with challenges.

This timeless piano was destined for the scrap heap. I rescued it with the help of some friends and brought it to my home since I saw potential in it. Once the pin block and soundboard were evaluated to be in acceptable order, the decision was made to explore restoring it to its original glory.

A Legacy of Passion and Restoration

Abandoned Steinway was born out of a music teacher’s devotion to preserving the beauty and history of this classic Steinway. With a steadfast commitment to restoration projects, I embarked on a mission to revive this 1890 Steinway piano from neglect.

I’ve always been a tinkerer. As a performer, I always preferred to do my own repairs and maintenance on my saxophones. In my day job, I enjoy the intricacies of manufacturing and production. On the weekends, you might find me under the hood of my old ’91 Ranger trying to stop oil leaks. I love fixing things, this piano is the biggest project yet!
